Adarsh Kumar, a young man from Bihar, has transformed the lives of thousands of students through his education-based startup. Coming from a modest background in Supaul district, Adarsh proved that determination and innovation can overcome financial limitations and create large-scale social impact.
At the age of 18, Adarsh was awarded the prestigious Global Student Prize, an international recognition supported by organisations such as the Varkey Foundation and Chegg.org. This prize carries a reward of USD 1 million, given to students who make a significant contribution to education, society, and their communities.
Adarsh has directly impacted more than 11,000 students worldwide through his initiatives. His work focuses on providing free or affordable education, career guidance, and mentorship to students from economically weaker sections. He has also ensured 100% scholarships worth ₹30 lakh for students in schools and colleges.
Despite facing financial hardships, Adarsh did not give up on his dreams. In 2022, he attempted to prepare for the IIT entrance examination, but financial constraints forced him to pause his plans. Instead of giving up, he chose a new path and launched an education-focused startup.
In 2023, he founded a new startup named “Shikshalay” (as mentioned in the report), aimed at empowering students by developing skills related to entrepreneurship, innovation, leadership, and personality development. Through this platform, nearly 20,000 school students have already received free training in entrepreneurship.
A special feature of this initiative is its collaboration with institutions such as IITs, NITs, and universities, where students receive exposure to real-world learning and innovation ecosystems. The program also provides access to AI-based learning tools and career-oriented knowledge to help students prepare for future challenges.
Adarsh recently met Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, who praised his efforts in the fields of education, skill development, and youth empowerment. The Chief Minister appreciated Adarsh’s contribution to strengthening Bihar’s education system and inspiring young people to think innovatively.
The meeting was also attended by the Chief Secretary of the Bihar Legislative Council. Adarsh’s journey stands as a strong example of how startups can be used not just for business, but for meaningful social transformation.
