Nationwide Bank Strike Today: Many Banks Are Affected!

A nationwide bank strike has affected banking operations across India today, as bank employee unions went on strike to press for their long-standing demands, including a five-day work week and better service conditions. The strike has mainly impacted public sector banks, causing inconvenience to customers in several regions.
Banks such as State Bank of India, Punjab National Bank, Bank of Baroda, Union Bank of India, Canara Bank, Bank of India and Indian Bank are among those most affected. Many branches of these banks are either closed or operating with limited staff, leading to disruptions in cash deposits, withdrawals, cheque clearance, passbook updates and other in-branch services.
However, private sector banks including HDFC Bank, ICICI Bank, Axis Bank, Kotak Mahindra Bank and IDFC First Bank are largely functioning as usual, as their employees are not part of the strike call.
Despite the strike, customers can continue to use digital banking services such as UPI, mobile and internet banking, and online fund transfers through NEFT, RTGS and IMPS. ATMs are operational, although cash availability may differ from place to place.
Customers are advised to postpone non-urgent branch visits and rely on online services until normal operations resume.
