Earthquake in Assam Today

A moderate earthquake was reported in Assam on Monday morning, causing tremors across several parts of the state and neighbouring areas of the Northeast. According to official sources, the earthquake measured around 5.1 on the Richter scale. The epicentre was located near Morigaon district, and the tremors were felt at approximately 4:17 am.
Residents in districts such as Guwahati, Nagaon, and nearby regions reported feeling the shaking, prompting many people to step out of their homes as a precaution. Mild tremors were also experienced in parts of Meghalaya and Arunachal Pradesh.
So far, no reports of loss of life or major damage to property have been received. Local authorities and disaster management teams are closely monitoring the situation and have advised citizens to remain calm.
Assam falls under a high seismic zone, making it prone to frequent earthquakes due to tectonic activity in the region. Officials have urged people to follow safety guidelines and stay alert for aftershocks.
